DR. MIRCEA FAUR
Vice-President of Research and Development
Dr. Faur has a BS and Master's Degree in Nuclear Physics from Cluj University and a Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from the Bucharest University, both in Romania. After over 27 years of R&D, Dr. Faur has accumulated extensive expertise in various materials science areas. He has published over 120 papers in journals and conference proceedings, and holds 25 patents mostly in semiconductor materials and devices areas. He taught Physics, Energy Conversion and Electrical Engineering courses, and was involved with training engineering students in semiconductor device design and manufacturing.
Prior to coming to the US, from1972 to 1977 he was a research scientist at the Research Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFA), Energy Conversion Laboratory, and from 1977 to 1983 at the Electrical Engineering Research Institute (ICPE), Solar and Wind Electric Energy Conversion Laboratory, both in Bucharest, Romania. From 1977 to 1980 he was a member of the management team of the Romanian national program on Solar Energy, and from 1980 to 1983 he was the research director of the Romanian national program," Solar and Wind Electric Systems with Storage in Hydrogen." From November 1983 to February 1984 he worked under a UN fellowship at the ESAT group at Leuven University in Belgium in Solar Photovoltaics R&D. From January 1986 to December 1998 he was a Senior Research Associate with the NASA LeRC's sponsored "Space Photovoltaic Research Center" at Cleveland State University. Since December 1995 he is the R&D VP and senior research scientist at SPECMAT, Inc.
